Food Recovery Network is a national organization that works to prevent food waste on college campuses. AWOL has started a branch right here at USD. At the end of every week, USD Food Recovery Network collects leftover food that has been frozen and stored by Aramark, weighs it, and transports it to Feeding Vermillion at the Vermillion United Methodist Church. Feeding Vermillion hosts a free community meal called the Welcome Table every Monday evening, and the food USD donates will either be distributed to the patrons as take-home meals for the rest of the week, or incorporated as part of the meal itself. To get involved, please contact our Director of Food Recovery, Marisa Helm at marisa.helm@coyotes.usd.edu
