AWOL Charlotte Has an Eye-Opening Experience

Day 3: Charlotte

This morning our team took a Walk In Charlotte through the Urban Ministry Center. We put ourselves in the shoes of a homeless citizen and completed a scavenger hunt to find proper resources for the homeless population. Itwas a very eye opening experience to be able to understand how hard it can be to find resources, shelter, and food on a daily basis. In the afternoon we worked with Second Harvest Food Bank which serves over 17 counties around Charlotte. We sorted essential non-food items that are in such high demand that all our completed boxes will be shipped out to shelters and homes tomorrow. The staff was very thankful for our hard work ethic and will be seeing them again in the the morning! We’ve had a great time so far, we can’t wait to see what the rest of the week has in store for us!
